Join us this Friday to hear from Mary Cohen, Director of Anchor Place Respite in Dunwoody, an organization we are supporting in its initiatives to launch and grow a social respite day program for families living with dementia and other cognitive impairments. In her role as director, Cohen is working collaboratively with faith-based organizations, civic groups, government entities, businesses, foundations, and individuals to provide a welcoming, meaningful, and joyful experience for people living with dementia and creative support solutions for caregivers.
Cohen earned a certificate in Spiritual Direction and a Doctorate in Healthcare Mission Leadership from the Loyola University in Chicago.
Have you ever wanted to learn more about how you can help your family, neighbors, customers, coworkers or fellow parishioners whose lives are touched by Alzheimer’s or other dementias? How can you be a better friend to families experiencing the changes of dementia?
Join us at St Patrick’s Episcopal Church this Sunday, March 3, 2024, 2:00-3:30pm for this free educational event featuring Daphne Johnston, CEO and Founder of the Respite for All Foundation. Daphne will offer dementia communication skills, ideas for activities, and a joyful message for how families can find hope while living with dementia.
Visit anchorplace.org or contact Mary Cohen, Director, Anchor Place Respite-Dunwoody at mary.cohen@stpat.net for more information. Registration is requested, but not required.
Alison Norris, an exemplary member of the Dunwoody Rotary Club, has been honored with the esteemed "Show Rotary Cares" award. This accolade, bestowed upon a Rotarian from each Rotary Club in DeKalb County for 19 years, recognizes outstanding service, dedication, and commitment.
Norris, known for her cheery demeanor and quick British wit, has captured the hearts of the Dunwoody community. Her unwavering dedication to the club, from hosting the Whiskey Raffle event in 2023 to active participation in every charity event, showcases her commitment to Rotary's core values.
The "Show Rotary Cares" award is a tribute to past District Gov. Bill Mulkey, honoring his enduring leadership and service to the DeKalb Rotary Council and Rotary International District 6900.
Allison is pictured with DeKalb Rotary Council Chair Lawrence Sharp and Jennifer Yanulavich, Brookhaven Rotary.
Dottie is still looking for a big stack of gifts - not for herself - for the auction that's part of our May 13 Golf Tournament. She's looking for adventures, artwork, wines and other libations, things like charcuterie boards and wine glasses, for example. All you contribute will help our FORE! the Memories fund-raising efforts - with proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Longest Day program and our Dunwoody Charitable Fund. So let's gather lots of gifts! Contact Dottie Toney Ransom if you have something for the auction.
We're also looking for golfers and sponsors - visit FORE! The Memories website
Dunwoody Rotarians have always had a great time together at District Conference - and we expect to continue that tradition at Jekyll Island this March 21-24, 2024. There's still time to join in the fun - log in to the District website - rotary6900.org - to register and book a hotel. Then let Griff know you're coming, so he can add you to our Saturday night dinner festivities.
