Join us this Friday at the Embassy Suites to welcome our District Governor Gordon Owens.
Gordon grew up visiting the Newport Beach Rotary CIub with his grandfather during visits to southern California. Tagging along while his grandfather delivered Meals on Wheels as one of his club's service projects left a lasting impression on Gordon.
When he started his own digital marketing agency, he sought out Rotary to get involved in the community. Early in 2011, he joined the Roswell Rotary Club and jumped right in. This large and active club was a perfect fit for Gordon's fun-loving personality.
Gordon is proud to say that he is a third generation Rotarian as his father Bob, joined the Boulder Colorado Rotary Club a few years ago. One of his Rotary Moments was getting to exchange flags with his dad during a Roswell Club meeting.
Gordon's wife, Ashley is the daughter of our own George and Amy Stewart so she has a long-time family link to Rotary too. Sheand Gordon have made many Iife-Iong friends through Rotary. They even have three Rotary daughters from hosting GRSP and Rotary Youth Exchange students over the years.
For Gordon and Ashley, Rotary is a family affair and they are honored to travel the state visiting clubs as Gordon serves as our District Governor for the 2024-2025 Rotary year.
Please share the link with your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and everyone else in the community - https://whiskey-raffle.com/. Raffle tickets cost $25 each and we will only sell 400 tickets. On raffle night, we will pull 6 tickets from the raffle bin and award 6 prizes.
Each week we will highlight one of the 6 prizes to be awarded. This week's highlighted prize is the Home Bar Builder which consists of several bottles of liquor donated by Ken Levy. The bottles include a tour of the world - a tequila from Mexico, a rum from Barbados, a classic London dry gin, and a Russian vodka. Also included in the prize packages is a $50 gift certificate to Dunwoody Tavern, a wine picnic basket donated by Carter Stout, and a Whiskey Drinking Kit donated by Dave Burr.
Remember, this is one of the two key fundraisers that support our work in the community.
Have you signed up to help with our USO Volunteer Day at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport: Thursday October 17, It's a long time Dunwoody tradition - and this year, Anchor Place participants created artwork that we are turning into cards thanking current military and veterans for their service. Pictured here are some of the artists, including Jackie Cuthbert and Fred Bounds.
We will serve our service personnel and family members an “All American” lunch of hot dogs with all the condiments, potato chips, fresh fruit, snack bars, home baked cookies bottled water, AND a portion of baked Ziti & Mom’s meatball. We would like to have a total of eight volunteers for the day from 9 AM to 3 PM. A shout out to our new members: please consider volunteering at the USO, it is one of the most satisfying and rewarding day of service.
We need volunteers to be at the airport on the 17th, as well as home baked cookies and bottled water if you'd like to donate. Read on for more details and contact Charlie Augello if you can help. [more]
About 40 members of the Dunwoody Family of Rotary joined together at Meghan Berry's home to welcome Hoa and Bin, our GRSP and RYE students for this Rotary year. Thanks so much to Meghan and her husband for hosting and making sure we had delicious barbecue to go with all the salads, desserts and appetizers everyone brought. District Governor Gordon and his wife Ashley joined us, as did Tiffany Le, daughter of our former member Tim Le, and Enzo - GRSP student from Brazil who is being hosted by Tim, Amy and Tiffany this year for the Gwinnett Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Dunwoody had a blast joining the
festivities at the inaugural Dunwoody Oktoberfest celebration at St. Patrick's
Episcopal Church. We enjoyed connecting with our community and promoting how we
support local causes. Thanks to everyone who staffed the booth and special
thanks to Mike Kenig for coordinating the club's activities.
