We are looking for 5 volunteers to represent the Rotary Club of Dunwoody in a friendly competition against the Peachtree Charter Middle School (PCMS) Quizbowl team. The competition includes questions about history, literature, math and pop culture. Rotary Club of Dunwoody won last year in a very close competition.
Rotary members Tom Lashway and John Mills have been assisting PCMS teacher Ms. Shannon McCartha with practice this year.

International Director Louise Barden with the help of her very able husband Ron Bardin organized an outstanding GRSP Leadership weekend. 38 of this year's 45 GRSP students visited Dunwoody to participate in the three day leadership program, which was sponsored by the following Clubs:
Atlanta Rotaract Club - Brookhaven - Buckhead - Decatur - Dunwoody - Nortn Atlanta - GRSP Organization
Of course they also had the help of ~ 25 of our fellow Club members.
Friday' sessions included the visit to the Center for Civil and Human Right, a presentation on Leadership by Billy Grogan, as well as fun filled afternoon at the Escape Room in Buckhead. The following eight Rotarians attended at at least one of these activities:

The following 18 families from the Rotary Club of Dunwoody each hosted GRSP students over the weekend

On Saturday Larry Hart delivered a his captivating and informative presentation on Fierce Conversations, while Anne Hallum discussed Toxic Charities. Later in the afternoon the students prepared 10,000 emergency meals working with Rise Against Hunger, and then participated in a session to to advise GRSP on possible changes to the GRSP.

The GRSP students on Sunday were divide into 7 teams, and had 2 hours to prepare a presentation for a hypothetical $10,000 grant. Each team prepared a powerpoint and presented it to the Shark Tank Panel which was composed of composed of Anne Glenn, Tom Lashway, and Terry Nall. The winning team (Pads for Empowerment) was comprised of the following students:

Sunday's activity was organized by the Rotaract Club of Atlanta. There were 12 Club members that were there for the Shark tank session.

The students appeared to have a great time while learning about leadership. Hats off to all the people that made this weekend a roaring success.
Dunwoody Diners will gather at Carbonara Trattoria on February 3rd between 5:00 and 5:15 for dinner from the menu with separate checks. The owner is very supportive of Rotary!
Carbonara is the lovely Italian restaurant right across the parking lot from the Dunwoody post office.
After dinner we will go to Stage Door Players to see the classic, Picnic, which will start at ~7:45.
The chairman of FUN, Ken Levy, has purchased 24 tickets, and we want to use all of them! Each theater ticket is $27.
To be sure you are not left out, plan to send your check or cash for your theater tickets to either Ken Levy (kenlevy99@gmail.com ) or Dottie Toney (toneydot@me.com) , or give it to one of them at next Friday’s meeting—No later!

February 3rd is the Saturday before the Super Bowl, so why not make a weekend of it?
Enjoy time with your fellow club members and get to know 1,000 Rotarians and their guests from all over District 6900.
Rotacon 2018 is a district conference designed to engage Rotarians, their guests, and familes for a weekend full of inspirational stories, entertaining sessions, and educational breakouts. It will be in San Destin FL during the last weekend in April.
