Taifa has served on various local, state and national committees and boards. She is member of Leadership Georgia Class of 2016 and is a Rockwood Leadership Institute Leading from theInside Out Fellow, Class of 2017.Taifa holds a bachelor’s in politics with economics from Mount Holyoke College and a master’s in public management and policy from the Heinz School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University, with a concentration in economic development and financial management.

2018 Butterfly Festival

The Butterfly Festival was a huge success, breaking records and surpassing capacity. Thanks to Erich Schuetz, Fred Brandt, Marilyn Woods, Rick Otness, Tom Lashway, Chris Gutchenritter and Rick Woods, thousands of people were shuttled to and from the event. No injuries and no accidents were reported. Although the final numbers aren't in, we're sure the monies raised exceeded expectations. The Dunwoody Nature Center is a gem and hopefully not taken for granted by the citizenry.

Our Rotary Youth Exchange student, Mink, arrived!

Rotary Club of Dunwoody is going to be hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange Student from Thailand , Mink , who just arrived! We are excited to see her often and share with her this experience!

And we are still looking for host families who want to share this awesome experience for 90 days.

Hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange Student can be incredibly rewarding for your family, bringing an international experience directly into your home. Host families provide room and board and share their lives with the Rotary Youth Exchange Students, involving them in family, community, and cultural activities. The Rotary Club of Dunwoody is looking for host families for our inbound student for next year, Mink from Thailand.

If you’re willing to experience one of the largest programs in Rotary by sharing your home and learning about a new culture, or you know a family that would be interested, contact Mike Parks, Deb Shelles Cameron, Dottie Toney-Ransom, Tania Lopez, or Jennie Stipick.

What are the responsibilities of a host family?
To accept the exchange student as a new member of your family. The student will be governed not only by the rules of the program but by the rules of your household. You are responsible for the safety of the exchange student the same as for your own children. Although you might become a bit more of the soccer mom or dad for normal everyday activities, it is not your responsibility to act as a taxi service or a tour guide. Rotarians for the hosting club will be helping in these areas.

You can find more information about being a host family in http://www.ryeflorida.org/host-family

Are you next?

We received word from the supplier of the car decals for the Community BBQ that the wrong materials were accidentally used to produce our BBQ decals for cars. After 2-3 days in the sun, the Decals begin to curl off the car surface.

Don't be alarmed. The supplier has made a replacement order using the correct materials. It is scheduled to arrive Thursday and will be available for members at this Friday's meeting.
