Be Sure To Vote by December 4!
Proposed Change to Dues Categories for Remainder of Rotary Year

On Monday, November 23, President Ardy sent an email to all club members about a proposed change in our dues structure. If we receive the required approval by the membership, the change would add a Pandemic Dues Base Rate for all non-rule of 85 members - retroactively to October 1, 2020 and running forward until June 30, 2021, the end of this Rotary year. The Board has approved the change; now we need your vote by December 4. What does all this mean?

Fellowship Opportunity
Annual Dunwoody Holiday Luncheon

Join us at the Annual Holiday Luncheon on Friday, December 11 - from 11 AM to 1 PM - either live at the Dunwoody Country Club or via Zoom! Due to COVID-19 precautions, the event will be a little different this year. We're thrilled to announce that our very own GRSP student Yemariam Workneh and local talent Jud Shumway (who has entertained us at several Thirsty Thursdays) will be sharing some holiday songs to get us in the spirit!

If you are planning to join us in person, please RSVP as soon as possible to rcdsecr@gmail.com. Note that we have a limit of 50 people for in-person attendance to comply with COVID safety measures. Also look for program details/timeline and Zoom link to follow next week.

Opportunity to Serve
You Can Support Toys for Tots Virtually Too!

As you know, we are continuing our tradition of supporting the Marines and their Toys for Tots Drive this holiday season. We will have a table at the Holiday Luncheon on December 11 to collect your donations. That said, we know that in this year of the pandemic, not everyone will be joining us at the Dunwoody Country Club. That doesn't mean you can't help us support Toys for Tots. We have two options:

  • In lieu of buying presents, you may support this endeavor by sending a check made out to Toys for Tots to Jim Glass, 5024 Oakhurst Walk, Dunwoody GA 30338.
  • Charlie Augello has agreed to collect items at the East 48th Street Market. Drop them there before Friday, December 11 if you can.

All donations must be received by December 14. This year, our Toys for Tots campaign is likely to make more of a difference than ever, so please help us support this great work!

Opportunities to Serve During the Pandemic
Lending a Hand to the Community Assistance Center (CAC) from Home

In addition to our work at the Community Assistance Center in Sandy Springs on the first Saturday of the month, you can volunteer to help from home with listening to and transcribing phone messages. CAC's main telephone message box receives at least 50 new messages a day from clients seeking information about CAC services or their assistance status. This would  be a commitment of about two hours a week. We need helpers to listen to the messages and route them to the appropriate staff. You can work from home and there is no client contact on the phone or in person. Hours are flexible, we will provide training, and we would like a commitment of at least a couple of months. Please contact Nolan Feintuch, CAC Volunteer Coordinator, at nolan.feintuch@ourcac.org if you are interested or want more information.

To Fellowship ... and Social Distancing - Thirsty Thursday Revisited!

On the third Thursday of November, nine people, all hungry to socialize while maintaining social distancing (with a one-minute photo grouping), gathered for a glass (or two) of good cheer on the patio of the Dunwoody Tavern. As the pictures show the temperatures was a little on the chilly side, but all stayed warm with the help of a luxurious fire pit. There was great music as Jud came with his musical gear and regaled the group with many excellent songs.

Those attendees out to prove that we are more than just a "friendly breakfast club" when it comes to being social, included: President Ardy, Jennifer Bowler and Jud,  Carter Stout,  Matthew Johnson,  Rick Otness,  Tina Philpot,  Griff Ransom and Rick Woods.

Watch for details on where we'll gather for December's Thirsty Thursday event - mark your calendars for Thursday, December 17.
