Are you ready to promote your club and help us attract new members, new sponsors, new speakers, and new friends? As part of the club's fall membership drive, we want to provide every member with personalized business cards that show your involvement with the club, display Rotary's logo, and point prospects to online sources for more information. Members can share these cards whenever they dine at local restaurants, conduct business in the area, and interact with local community organizations, display the cards in their business, and hand out the cards when making their elevator speech to prospective members (we'll talk more about the elevator speech at an upcoming meeting).
Please reach out to Dave Burr (davidthomasburr@gmail.com) to request your business cards. Don't wait - our order needs to be finalized by August 31. So what does Dave need from you? [more]
Whether it's whiskey or whisky, the Club needs your help in our third annual Whiskey Raffle where we hope to raise $10,000 in support of our charitable work for this year.
Next month we're kicking off our Raffle. How can you help? For now, by visiting your local liquor store TODAY and asking for a donation. After a few years of doing the raffle we've learned that the unusual or rare bottle generates more ticket sales. Some in-demand whiskeys include: Stag, Penelope, Parker's Whistle Pig and Blantons. Need more ideas: https://www.thespiritsbusiness.com/2023/08/the-american-whiskey-masters-2023-results/
Drawings will be held at each Thirsty Thursday in the months of October, November and December. So it is critical that we have our whiskeys lined up by the end of the month. Don't delay.
So which spelling is correct? BOTH. [more]
You can enlist today for our upcoming day at the USO on September 21. You'll be upholding a long-time Dunwoody tradition. We need:
Cookies should be delivered to the E. 48th Street Market on 09/18 & 19th, 2023. All home baked cookies will be bagged on volunteer day and each bag will have a label that reads "Dear Soldier, Thank you for your service. Enjoy this small token of appreciation made especially for you with love and prayers." Rotary Club of Dunwoody
Please contact Charlie Augello (italian@e48thstreetmarket.com) to volunteer or bake cookies.
We look forward to another very rewarding day that Rotarians demonstrate “Service above Self"
Know someone who might be interested in this year abroad high school experience? We are gearing up to identify outbound Rotary Youth Exchange students for the 2024-25 school year, and to identify potential sponsor clubs and families for inbound clubs. We're hoping to sponsor a student this year from Dunwoody High School - our first since the pandemic. We need your help in spreading the word about the opportunity to your neighbors and friends!
It all starts with an Information Session. Students who would like to learn more about the Rotary Youth Exchange scholarship program should attend an Information Session. Before submitting an application, students must participate in one of the Information Sessions together with at least one parent. (Rotarians welcome at these events - sign up at RYESE.org/district-6900/6900-application-info/
Applications are open now and due by October 15, 2023. We will reveal student selections on December 13, 2023. Contact Rick Woods (our Club Chair this year for RYE) or Mike Parks for more information.
There's still time to book tickets and join your Family of Rotary for an evening of great music and fellowship as we see Beautiful: The Carole King Musical at the Aurora Theatre (located in the Lawrenceville Art Center) on Thursday, September 7 at 8 pm. If you haven't purchased tickets yet, you can do so online at https://www.auroratheatre.com/productions-and-programs/view/beautiful-the-carole-king-musical/ - you can use the code FINE for a discount. We are seating in the orchestra level, rows E and F in second section from the stage.
We are planning for super at 6 pm at Dominick’s. Please let Louise know if you plan to join us for supper so we can modify our reservations.
