Help Us Welcome District Governor Cynthia Edwards

Mark your calendars for a key highlight of our Rotary year! We are honored to welcome District Governor Cynthia Edwards as our featured speaker during our regular general meeting this Friday, August 28. Her visit is a wonderful opportunity to hear her vision for our district, connect over our shared commitment to service, and gain fresh inspiration for the year ahead.

To kick off her visit, the Rotary Club of Dunwoody will host an evening reception in honor of DG Cynthia and her husband, Dr. Lonnie J. Edwards, Sr., on Thursday, August 27 at the Louisiana Bistreaux, starting at 5 pm. We're likely to be out on the covered patio with lots of ceiling fans, but dress for outside August weather. Come out to mingle, enjoy great conversation, and extend a warm Dunwoody welcome to our district leadership!

Reception Details:

  • Date & Time: Thursday, August 27 | 5:00 PM.
  • Location: Louisiana Bistreaux Seafood KitchenWe will be on the outside patio - it is covered with ceiling fans but still outside so dress comfortably.
  • Address: 237 Perimeter Center Pkwy NE, Suite H-11, Bldg 2, Dunwoody, GA 30338
  • Parking: Free for the first two hours

Please plan to attend both events to show your strong support for District Governor Edwards and celebrate the spirit of Rotary together!

GRSP Update
Welcome Sebastian!

We are pleased to welcome Sebastian Samayoa from Guatemala as our GRSP student for the 2026-27 school year. Sebastian is a senior at Oglethorpe University. President Dave Burr is Sebastian's host family for the year, and we hope many of you will take time to get to know Sebastian better and show him some Georgia hospitality - maybe buy him lunch or dinner, or take him to a special event you think he'd enjoy.

Whiskey Raffle Update
And in the Whiskey Headlines!

One not so great item… we weren’t able to reach minimum numbers of reservations for our Louisiana Bistreaux tasting this Thursday, August 27. That event has been regrettably cancelled; if you were one of the few with a reservation, that will be refunded. The district governor’s reception is unaffected. But the whiskey event is on!

We are pleased to begin accepting preliminary whiskey donations. We will, of course, take any sort of donation. But because this is a tasting event, we are looking at a fairly targeted list similar to last year. The specific labels are below. We’re also looking for a signature bottle to include in a special, on-site raffle! This could include labels like the Whistle Pig Boss Hog (similar to last year), any of the antique collection from Buffalo Trace (Pappy Van Winkle, Sazerac 18yr, Thomas Hardy Rye, and William Larue Weller), or the Forrester Birthday Bourbon as a few examples. Please let us know if you have any questions and stay tuned for more details! We will provide a preliminary list of whiskeys we're looking for in next week's bulletin.
