Whiskey Raffle Update
Keep on Gathering!

We are now in the third week of gathering bottles of whiskey and other collectible spirits for the raffle. It is very important that we reach our prize pool goal in order to market and sell tickets in October and November!

We’re now in the final couple of weeks of finalizing our prize pool so we can start advertising our raffle in earnest! We need your help in finalizing a good prize pool to meet our goal!!

There are three ways that you can help:

  1. Look for donations from people you know - for example, whiskey enthusiasts, restaurant owners, or others who prize and collect whiskey.
  2. Go to Dunwoody Beverage and select a whiskey off the registry list to donate to the club. It’s tax deductible for you and Dunwoody Beverage will donate 10% back to the club!
  3.  Keep on the lookout for announced whiskey tastings! This is one of new ways of marketing the raffle and selling tickets. It’s also a great way to talk to your friends who might enjoy whiskey and might equally enjoy a social outing with the Rotary club!

Remember: if you’re not sure what to get, look for scotch 18yrs or older, rye or bourbon 12yrs and older, anything that is “allocated” (meaning it’s scarce), or if all else fails anything over $50.

We’ll have a full update of our progress in donations and plan for sales at the first meeting of October.

This is how our major fundraiser for the fall is shaping up:

  1. Phase 1: prize gathering (to be completed by October 1). we now have 10 of our anticipated 30 - 40 bottles promised… let’s go!
  2. Phase 2: sell tickets (goal is to sell all 1,000 tickets by November 15): we’ll be priced at $25/ticket or 5 tickets for $100. Sales are open now but we will begin marketing in earnest in October.
  3. Spread the word! Encourage friends, family, and colleagues—whiskey enthusiasts are never hard to find (they brag). Every ticket sold brings us closer to our $25,000 goal. And whiskey might just be a great way to introduce people to Rotary.
  4. And Lastly, SAVE THE DATE! Thirsty Thursday, November 20! We’re targeting that last Thursday before Thanksgiving for the main event itself.
