This Week's Speakers
Ginger LePage, Director of Technology, and Sargeant Anwar Sillah, Dunwoody Police Department

Join us this Friday 7/25 at Maggiano's in Dunwoody to learn more about Cyber Security for Children from Dunwoody Director of Technology Ginger LePage and Dunwoody Police Sargeant Anwar Sillah.

Ginger LePage is the Director of Technology for the City of Dunwoody.  At 16 years old, her first job was changing tapes at a data center which sparked her interest in technology.  She has been working in the Public Sector since 2002. Since she started with the City in 2020, her primary focus has been cybersecurity and accessibility for users and citizens.

Sergeant Anwar Sillah began his law enforcement career as a police officer in Georgia in 2009, graduating from the Clayton Regional Law Enforcement Academy. He gained experience at two metro-Atlanta police departments before joining the Dunwoody Police Department in May 2014. In 2024, he was named Dunwoody Supervisor of the Year. [more]

This Saturday, July 26, is our third annual bookbag packing event - all going to Tapestri, an organization dedicated to helping immigrant and refugee survivors of violence through education, community organizing, direct services, and advocacy to help them reclaim ownership over their lives! Join us from 10 am to noon at Dunwoody Country Club to help with this worthy cause.

Last year, the Dunwoody High football team who lent their muscles to pack up and carry out the 110 book bags we assembled.

Help FODAC Make a Difference!

Every year - and every day - FODAC makes a difference in the lives of people with disabilities - as it collects and refurbishes home medical equipment. FODAC's footprint is both local here in Atlanta and global - as it responds to equipment needs for daily life and in emergency situations like earthquakes, hurricanes, and conflicts.

Every August, the DeKalb Rotary Council joins forces with FODAC for a Home Medical Equipment Drive. This year, DeKalb Rotarians will gather on August 9 at the 57th Fighter Squadron Restaurant, then move out in teams to collect equipment in surrounding communities. Here's how you can help:

  • Plan to join our Dunwoody team for the day - from 9 AM to 1 PM
  • Let Dave Burr know if you have any medical equipment to donate - things like wheelchairs, bathroom aids, walkers/rollers, hospital beds, scooters, pediatric equipment, adaptive vans or power chairs, and we can help you schedule pick-up.
  • Let your neighbors and friends know we can pick up any equipment they have to donate.

Let Dave know now if you'd like to volunteer or make a donation!

Mark Calendar: August 2
It's Almost Time for Baseball!!!

Join the Dunwoody Family of Rotary on August 2, to cheer on the Gwinnett Stripers at Cool Ray Field in Lawrenceville.  Game time is at 6 pm. Prior to the game there is going to be a car show so you may want to arrive early to check out the cars. The cars also will parade on the field between innings.

Tickets are $20 each. Please contact Sherry Levy at sherrylevy13@hotmail.com or speak with Ken Levy if you want to attend. Everyone is invited. Kids under 15 can attend at no charge. All attendees will be responsible for their own food and snacks. Like previous years, our seats are under the overhang on the first base side so we will be sheltered from bright sun or rain should there be any.

The Man Behind the Four-Way Test

For members of Rotary, The Four-Way Test immediately brings to mind the foundational principles of our organization. While many are familiar with this ethical guide, fewer may know the remarkable story of the man behind it - Herbert J. Taylor -and his deep connection to Rotary.

Born in 1905, the same year Rotary was founded, Taylor's path intertwined with the organization early on. He joined the Rotary Club of Chicago in 1925, just two decades after its inception. It was during a challenging period, the Great Depression, that Taylor's leadership and innovative spirit truly shone. In 1932, he took the helm of the Club Aluminum Products Company, guiding it through bankruptcy to become a very successful organization. Faced with complex and often unworkable existing ethical codes, he sought a simpler, more practical framework. The result was "The Four-Way Test," a mere 24 words that would go on to shape ethical conduct far beyond his company. [more]
