Sergeant
Anwar Sillah began his law enforcement career as a police officer in Georgia in
2009, graduating from the Clayton Regional Law Enforcement Academy. He gained
experience at two metro-Atlanta police departments before joining the Dunwoody
Police Department in May 2014.
During his time in Dunwoody, Sgt. Sillah initially served as a patrol officer, actively participating in community policing efforts. In 2017, his commitment to community engagement led him to transition to the Community Outreach Unit. In this role, he oversaw programs like Neighborhood Watch and the Citizens Police Academy, and notably founded the Teen Police Academy in 2020. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2021 and now supervises the night shift patrol. Despite his current night shift supervisory role, he remains dedicated to community policing and continues to focus heavily on outreach efforts.
Sgt. Sillah's dedication to community policing has earned him numerous accolades, including the VFW Officer Service Award, the ASIS 2021 Positive Policing Award, and the Dr. Curtis E. McClung/Motorola Award of Excellence. For his exceptional community policing efforts during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sgt. Sillah was recognized as the Dunwoody Officer of the Year in 2020. In 2024, he was named Dunwoody Supervisor of the Year. Sgt. Sillah holds a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Liberty University. He is married and has two daughters, aged three and six.
