Wine Fellowship
The Story Behind Glühwein Gatherings

President Louise and Ron invite you to dress warmly and join our special Glühwein wine fellowship on Sunday, January 5 from 4 - 6 pm. Where did the Glühwein tradition start? The oldest documented Glühwein tankard is attributed to Count John IV of Katzenelnbogen, a German nobleman who was the first grower of Riesling grapes. This gold-plated lockable silver tankard is dated to c. 1420.

The Alsace Christmas markets are said to only serve Glühwein - no other beverages. At our own Glühwein Fellowship, we'll provide the Glühwein but ask that everyone coming bring a bottle of wine or an appetizer/dessert to share. And we'll have non-alcoholic beverages too. We also invite you to participate in our "Christmas market." Ron and Louise have identified some Christmas decorations that are looking for a new home and you may have some too. Bring them and enjoy the free Christmas market.

We'll enjoy a winter wonderland on our back deck (weather permitting, otherwise we'll move inside) and the hot mulled wine that is the Christmas market tradition all over Europe. Please RSVP to Louise at lbarden@comcast.net or 404-423-8226. The Bardens live at 5576 Colbert Trail, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092.
