Getting to Know You
Carter Stout: Past President, Reader, Dedicated Rotarian

Carter Stout has been a vibrant and influential member since joining our Rotary Club in March 2011. Known for his innovative ideas and deep commitment to community. He initially discovered Rotary when he stumbled upon a lively meeting at the Ravinia Club, a serendipitous encounter that led to an introduction from George Stewart and a realization that Rotary ran in his family, with his father also being a member.

One of Carter's most cherished Rotary memories revolves around the GRSP weekend. About two decades ago, tasked with hosting two students for a family dinner, he found himself alone with his young son when his wife and daughter were out of town. He invited a few other GRSP participants, and much to his surprise, 30 people showed up! This spontaneous gathering evolved, with Carter hosting for several years before the "big party" moved to Jennie Stipick's house. These evenings were filled with music, singing, and memorable interactions, creating lasting bonds with the students. And Carter's commitment to GRSP continues; he currently serves as a GRSP Trustee.

Carter's year as club president was a highlight, leaving him with the conviction that "everybody ought to try it at one point." He champions the idea of smaller community interest groups like wine fellowships or book clubs, believing these intimate settings are crucial for building stronger friendships among members. He's also a strong advocate for Rotary Means Business (RMB), having started our chapter three years ago. He believes fostering business connections within the club is vital, particularly for attracting younger entrepreneurs who can benefit from a supportive network.

When he's not dedicating time to Rotary or to his legal practice, Carter enjoys his annual family vacation to Crescent Beach, a tradition spanning 31 years where he reconnects with relatives and indulges in his love for reading. He also recently ran the Peachtree Road Race for the 30th time! Carter continues to embody the active and engaged spirit of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody.
