One of the finest traditions of the Rotary Club of Dunwoody is our practice of honoring guest speakers by making a direct and meaningful impact in our community. For every speaker who shares their time, knowledge, and insights with our club, we donate $100 to a designated charitable cause chosen by the club president. It is my privilege to announce that our presidential charity of choice is LifeLine Animal Project.

LifeLine Animal Project plays a vital, compassionate role across Metro Atlanta by managing both the DeKalb County and Fulton County Animal Shelters. Their tireless commitment to transforming animal welfare, improving shelter conditions, and promoting lifelong pet ownership has saved tens of thousands of homeless pets. As someone who has been a passionate dog lover for as long as I can remember, supporting LifeLine’s mission is a cause deeply close to my heart.

My connection to pet adoption is not just theoretical—it is written right into my family history. Over the years, shelter adoption has brought immense joy into my life. My journey with LifeLine includes adopting my dog, Sirius Black, from the DeKalb County Animal Shelter and my dog, Hagrid, from the Fulton County Animal Shelter. Beyond LifeLine, my home has also welcomed Gryffindor, who was adopted from the Cobb County Animal Shelter, and Belatrix, whom I took in from a neighbor in distress - those two dogs have now retired to Florida and live with my mother. Long before adopting here in Georgia, my rescue journey began in Florida, where I previously adopted a couple of wonderful dogs from a county shelter. Each has brought its own unique personality, warmth, and memorable stories into my life. 

Through our weekly speaker honorariums, the Rotary Club of Dunwoody will help LifeLine continue its lifesaving work, ensuring that animals in DeKalb and Fulton counties receive the shelter, care, and adoption opportunities they deserve. Thank you all for your dedication to Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, and for helping us make a tangible difference for both the people and animals in our broader community.
