When Bob O'Brien visited our Rotary club's booth at the Dunwoody Arts
Festival in 2014, he was seeking networking opportunities for his new Farmer's
Insurance agency. Rick Woods introduced Rotary to Bob as well as promoted the
club's opportunities while he took him to lunch three times. Bob's father was a
Kiwanis member and Bob later joined that organization and served as president
of the Kiwanis Club of Fairfield, CT.
Though initially planning to focus solely on service projects, Bob's natural
leadership abilities quickly emerged. He dove headfirst into various
initiatives, including Junior Achievement, Special Olympics, and Bounds Garden.
He served on several committees and then his first large project was the club's
BBQ fundraiser, which he laughingly refers to as a lesson in "how not
to do a fundraiser." This experience, however, proved invaluable when
Carter Stout tapped him to become fundraising chairman and launch the club's
golf tournament — roles he has successfully held for three years.
A 28-year Dunwoody resident, Bob recently sold his Farmer's agency and
enjoys more traveling time with his wife Andrea, who is an office manager at
Parker, Hudson, Ranier & Dobbs LLP. They are pictured here in the California wine country last April. They have three adult children and
three grandchildren.
