Mark Galvin serves as director of marketing for Discover Dunwoody, the destination marketing organization (DMO) responsible for promoting tourism within the thriving city located just north of Atlanta. He is also Dunwoody Rotary's Public Image Chair for the 2023-24 Rotary year and will share some thoughts in Friday's meeting about building our Club's Rotary brand.
His 30 years of experience from
various hotel brands including InterContinental Hotel Group, Hyatt Hotels,
Marriott® Hotels and Omni Hotels & Resorts, as well as from several independent
hotels and resorts, well prepared him for this role. He began his hospitality
career working in room operations, serving as front office manager and
housekeeping director. Over the course of his hospitality career, Galvin
focused on developing leaders, salespeople and strategic visions.
In
addition to his hospitality background, Galvin is also a social media expert
and recently launched a new podcast channel for Discover Dunwoody to highlight
local leaders and developments in the community.
Mark first joined Rotary in 2016 and was honored as his club's Rotarian of the Year
in 2018. In the same year, he also received the “Emerging Business of the Year”
award from the DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce. In 2023, Galvin was appointed
to the board of directors for Create Dunwoody, an arts and culture plan that
seeks to support opportunities for placemaking and vibrant public spaces,
enhanced economic development, and overall quality for those who live, work,
and play in Dunwoody. He moved to the Dunwoody Rotary Club last fall.
Galvin resides in Tucker, Georgia, with Stephanie,
his wife of 31 years, and their three children. The Galvin family attends
Immaculate Heart of Mary and are actively engaged in church programs.
