Major General Bill Dyer, Commanding General of the United States Army Reserve 108th Training Command

Join us this Friday at the AC Hotel as we honor Veteran's Day and welcome Major General Bill Dyer, the Commanding General of the United States Army Reserve 108th Training Command, where he executes command and control over 8,000 Army Reserve Soldiers who perform Basic Combat and Leader Training for both enlisted soldiers and junior officers across the United States.  He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute in 1985 and his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1992.  His military education includes a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

In his 38-year military career, he has led soldiers at every level as both an engineer officer and as a Judge Advocate (military lawyer).  A veteran of two combat deployments, he was part of the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003.  Later, in 2018, he led NATO’s effort to establish the Rule of Law in Afghanistan. His two immediate past assignments were Assistant Judge Advocate General for Military Law and Operations – with duty at the Pentagon, and Commanding General of the Army Reserve Legal Command.

He was promoted to Major General in 2022, and his military awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Combat Action Badge.

As a civilian, Major General Dyer is the Managing Partner of the Atlanta law office of Lee & Hayes, where he leads the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation practice, primarily focusing on patent, trademark, and trade secret issues.

Major General Dyer, his wife Jill, and their dog Duke have lived in Dunwoody, where they raised their two daughters, since 2003.
