The board has approved the choice of Flemings restaurant as the Rotary Club of Dunwoody meeting venue for FY 2019. There were five key factors that the Board weighed in arriving at this choice.
ØMember opinion on suitability
ØCost
ØQuality: venue, food, parking
ØImpact on current Club
Øimpact on future Club
After a healthy debate, the board decided to meet at Flemings Restaurant. The Venue Team (Ardy Bastien, Mike Parks, and Rick Woods) is to be congratulated on doing a thorough job. They investigated 14 locations, asked 7 to bid on our business, and arranged for the Club to have a "trial" visit at each of the top 4 finalists. This took an enormous amount of time and effort behind the scenes. Please thank them when you get a chance.
We will hold a Club Assembly at Flemings Restaurant on Friday 06/22/18. Please make a concerted effort to attend. The Club Assembly will cover two issues.
The First issue to be discussed will be the proposed changes to the Dunwoody Charitable Fund's Declaration. The Club's By laws require at least 7 days notice be given as to any vote to change the by-laws of the Club and/or the Dunwoody Rotary Charitable Fund. An email will be sent out to all current members on 06/13/18 announcing that a vote to amend the Dunwoody Rotary Charitable Fund Declaration will take place at the Club Assembly being held on 06/22/18. If you do not receive the email, please contact Rick Otness (otness_r@mindspring.com).
The second issue that will be a discussed, but not voted upon, will be proposed changes to the 5 Year Strategic Plan. We are looking for guidance, and based on the feedback, a vote on the strategic plan will be scheduled to take place early in Rick Woods' year as President.
Revisions to Dunwoody Rotary
Charitable Fund's Declaration of Trust
Every 10 years the Declaration of Trust for the Dunwoody Rotary Charitable Fund is reviewed and necessary changes made to keep the document current. A team composed of the FY 2018 Trustees, the Treasurer for FY 2018, the Treasurer for FY 2019, the Future Presidents, as well as the Financial Review committee have been meeting for several months. During that time they have done a top to bottom review of the Declaration and are recommending changes be made to that document. You should be receiving a blast email on 06/13/18 with materials for you to review.
A committee composed of Club members with different lengths of tenure in the Club were asked to examine the existing 5 year Strategic Plan that was last revised in 2013. They were to suggest any needed changes/improvements that they could agree on. Since the committee was chosen to reflect the Club's composition, it is hoped that the membership will agree with what they are proposing. On 06/22/18 we will be discussing (as a Club) their recommendations. You will receive a separate blast email in the near future with relevant materials for your review.
