On August 14, 2021, Haiti was rocked by a massive 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake and Tropical Storm Grace followed right behind the earthquake - brining heaving rains and flooding to the country. Nearly 2,000 people have died, another 10,000 are injured and more than 7,000 homes were destroyed.
The Rotary District 7020 Earthquake response committee met Monday to begin assessing the damage done, the immediate needs and how to help. Our Dunwoody Board of Directors voted this Tuesday to respond to District 7020's urgent fundraising appeal with a $2,500 contribution from our Dunwoody Charitable Fund.
Louise Barden reported at the meeting that the hospital in Haiti we worked with a few years ago to buy a C-Arm for orthopedic surgeries was still open for business and would be able to provide important care for earthquake victims.
