Opportunity to Serve
Help Welcome Global Grant Scholar Hinako Unno

Hinako Unno is our Global Grant Scholar from Japan. She arrives tonight at 9:00 pm (airlines willing) from northern Japan. Hinako will be attending Emory's Rollins School of Public Health to earn her Master's Degree and her special area of interest is Mental Health.

Anne and Clark Glenn will pick her up tonight. She has not been vaccinated against COVID and tested negative yesterday. Since she is not vaccinated, she will be self quarantining in Anne and Clark's basement for seven days. After that we will arrange a vaccination and she moves into her apartment for school on August 7.

As you know, this isn't the way we like to welcome our international students. And to make things even worse, the Glenns will be out of town from Friday morning until Sunday evening to celebrate Good OLD Clark's Birthday with the family. Anne's great friend and neighbor Marcia Sandbach is on alert to help Hinako with anything she immediately needs.

Now, here's our ask of the Rotary Club members if at all possible.

  1. Please send her welcome messages on cards, signs, flowers, etc. Let your imagination roam. You can bring them to Rotary on Friday, mail them to Anne's address (1480 North Springs Drive, Dunwoody 30338) or just drop them off at Anne's front door if you live close enough.
  2. Could you give her a meal and foster her for a day while Anne and Clark are gone? We are asking especially for Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We don't know her food preferences. She will have a fridge, microwave and toaster oven. And all utensils, plates, dishes, etc. need to be disposable. As soon as she arrives we can get her cell phone number and she can communicate directly with you. Again, food can be left at the front door.

Please let Anne know if you can volunteer to help us out - via email at adillardglenn@gmail.com or via mobile at 770-310-0504.
